Week 3 Group Project: Digital Storytelling with Mobile Devices Challenge

Personal Reflection:

I was delegated the role of the Team Leader as well as the Photographer/ Media Producer for our California Oranges app advertisement. I contributed most of the pictures, as well as constant team organization and communication. I also contributed the role of Documentarian. Unfortunately, the team member I had been contacting to complete that task was unresponsive as far as contribution or participation. Therefore I ended up taking one of his roles, and Lisa took the other one as Script Writer. She really did an amazing job! I was actually very surprised about how much a project changes from start to finish. It was really cool to watch it unfold from beginning to end, because the finished product was entirely different in every way from the initial brainstormed ideas! Honestly, I am the most proud of the strong communication I had kept with all of my teammates throughout the project. Even though we’re all in different states, we were able to be proactive and connect with each other as if we were all in the same room. It was definitely a challenge for me, mainly because I had to work all week at time consuming hours that had been spontaneously changed at the last minute. So, finding the time to do that when work was becoming hectic and unstructured was pretty stressful. But when it was all said and done, we created something I am very, very proud of. I just want to say the Jazzy, Lisa, and Raymond are all awesome, and we totally kicked butt! I am happy that I get to work with such creative minds, and hardworking classmates who take their schoolwork just as seriously as I do. Thanks again you guys!

Workflow:
We collaborated on our Mighty Bell circle chat, as our main form of communication. I had reached out to Raymond via Mightybell, FSO, and Email as well. We started out with delegating our roles, then immediately started being proactive in them. Lisa suggested California Oranges, and volunteered to take over the role of Lead Writer. She created a script for the video, then we then collaborated our ideas for media. I went out and took various photos that went along with the theme, and Jazzy edited them once they were uploaded onto Dropbox. The shot list was then created on poplet. We realized after watching the GTT that we were on the wrong track, and we had created a commercial rather than a story. So we completely changed it up, and decided to use pictures we had of our loved ones that visually went along with the script to emotionally connect with our viewers. Jazzy did an amazing job at editing the pictures to make the orange pop out, to emphasise on the theme, and Lisa created a beautiful and soothing voice over, as well as upbeat music to tie it all together. I took on the role of Documentarian, and gathered information for my team about their devices and apps. We worked great as a team, and I am confident that Jazzy will get us the most views with her strategist skills. I hope to have the pleasure of working with them again in the future.
