Week 4 Reflection: RISE Peer Review

This week, I got to focus on Cory Sinnott’s Digital Story. He did an amazing job creating something both visually and audibly beautiful. I’m always impressed by his work! So, here is my RISE reflection.

Reflect -
Cory, I know that in one of the previous assignments, I had expressed how much I appreciate and relate to your digital story. It is so difficult to not have a plan, a structure, or a general idea of what you’d like to do with your life. Especially when everyone around you has had it together and been sure since they were a small child. It helps me relate to you because I have watched everyone around me become successful, loving what they do, the first time around, and I have changed my mind so many times as well. It takes so much courage for you to change your career. Twice! I commend you for that, and I believe that because of your willingness to be honest with yourself, despite the social norm, you will become even more successful than you ever even expected. It shows in the work I’ve seen from you that you love what you do now, and that will carry on to your future professional endeavors.

Inquire -
I really had to think about an inquiry for you on this one. I think ultimately I would like to ask, what was it that had caused you to pursue your first two colleges? Was it because of your parents? Or was it more of an independent decision? Were there any specific events that occurred during your time in other pursuits that caused you to change your mind? Or was it just strictly because you knew it wasn’t your passion?

Suggest -
Again, I think you did such a great job with this project. The music was awesome, and your voice sounds confident and you’ve managed to avoid the monotone monster! The only criticism I can think of to suggest is that a couple times in your speech you subtly got tongue tied. Not nearly as bad as I did with mine, but I can’t think of anything else to suggest so I’m going with that one.

Elevate -
I would like to see more pictures of you personally. I really liked the stock photos you have chosen. I thought they went very well with the emotion of your story, and nothing looked cheesy or like an afterthought. It was all very professional looking. But I would like to see more of you as well. I believe it will expand your story by creating a more personal experience for your audience, and help everyone to be able to connect with your journey.

In conclusion, again, I was very impressed with your project. I wish I had the same editing skills and vocal confidence as you do! It’s always a pleasure to see what you create, and I appreciate that you shared your story with us. You’re doing awesome, and I hope I get to see how your work develops throughout our time here at Full Sail!
